Mule Deer

Unit 10

The private land ranch is situated in GMU 10 in the central part of New Mexico, encompassing over 7,000 acres. Our management plan for this ranch allows for only two hunters per year, ensuring an exclusive and high-quality hunting experience.

This ranch is known for producing quality mule deer, with occasional harvests exceeding 180 B&C. The deer hunt will occur during the regular seasons established by the New Mexico Department of Game & Fish and will focus on glassing to identify quality deer worth pursuing, followed by a spot-and-stalk hunting approach. Licenses for these hunts are available over the counter, meaning there is no draw necessary for tags, making access more straightforward.

Additionally, this deer hunt can be combined with an elk hunt, allowing for a combination experience; however, both hunts must occur simultaneously during the deer seasons as determined by the Department of Game & Fish. The cost for the combination hunt is $11,000 plus tax.

New Mexico Public Land Mule Deer Hunts

New Mexico offers numerous outstanding mule deer hunts on public land, but these hunts are by draw, and applications must be submitted by March 18, 2026. We are licensed by all New Mexico National Forests, Bureau of Land Management Districts, and the New Mexico State Land Office, allowing us to offer you hunts in any unit you choose. This flexibility sets us apart as one of the few outfitters in the state with such extensive licensing, as most outfitters are limited to one or two areas, which can restrict your application options.

We are here to assist you throughout the application process, providing hunt suggestions based on your preferences. Additionally, you can use our outfitter number for free to enhance your chances of drawing a tag.

We offer two types of hunts on public land:

Guide-Only Hunts: You can choose whatever number of days you’d like a guide, with a minimum of two days. These hunts do not include accommodations or meals.

Fully Guided Hunts: These include accommodations and meals, with pricing varying depending on the number of guiding days you select— options include five, seven, or nine days. For fully guided hunts, we generally operate out of a nearby town where you can stay in a motel (motel costs will be your responsibility). If you prefer to camp, we can set up a camp in a suitable area for you to bring your personal gear.

During the public land deer hunts, we accommodate all three weapon types: archery, muzzleloader, and rifle, targeting both Mule Deer and Coues Deer.

The specifics of the hunt you desire and the species you are interested in will guide our recommendations on what to apply for. Please note that we won’t be conducting hunts during the September Archery deer season unless you also have an archery elk hunt booked for that time, as our staff may be committed to elk hunts.

There are several excellent deer units known for producing exceptional animals, as well as other units that provide enjoyable hunting experiences. Remember, you have three choices on your application, and you can mix and match units, weapon types, and time frames. Feel free to call us, and we can help devise a game plan tailored to your preferences.
